Fort Lauderdale Airport – Flying alternatives

If you have a need to fly into the sunny Greater Fort Lauderdale area, and commercial flight is not your cup of tea, you have an excellent alternative. The Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport provides, among other services, passenger and small charter packages, an air ambulance and flight schools. Also at the airport is an industrial park on 65 acres containing over 1.3 million square feet of office space and warehouse space. The Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport is considered South Florida’s premier general air facility and first in the business area. There is no faster alternative in the area, because there are no ticket counters, no lines, no terminals to navigate through, only superior service, and convenience in secure surroundings. The airport offers both aviation and business amenities, and an award-winning Observation Area. The Broward County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and a U.S. Army Reserve Engineer Battalion are based there. The airport is located centrally to the uptown business district, and offers easy access to I-95 and the Florida turnpike. It is mere minutes from downtown and all of the Greater Fort Lauderdale area’s many attractions.

The Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport is the eight busiest General Aviation airports in the country, and the 61st busiest overall. Year-round, more than 700 aircraft consider the airport home, including 115 jets and 37 helicopters. Do not let these numbers concern you, though. The airport is well organized, safe, and effective, and offers high quality facilities, including a 24-hour FAA Air Traffic Control Tower, an Instrument Landing System, and six full service-base operators.

You will find a U.S. Customs Service and a police sub-station, supported by 24-hour security guards. There is a rapid response Aircraft Rescue and Fire-Fighting Station as well. Facilities for travelers, including hotels, a conference center, and restaurants are on site or within one mile of the airport. Other nearby airports is the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport and Miami International Airport, adding further flight options if necessary. Superior service, convenience, and security are insured to all customers at this premier general aviation facility.
